Cheronda, BS.Ed, MS

Cheronda has 16 years of experience in the nonprofit industry as employee, volunteer and consultant. When she was not directly working with a nonprofit organization she was working with businesses, colleges/universities or government agencies that worked with nonprofit organizations and/or directly impacted people and communities.

Project Management & Program Coordinating Experience

Project Manager (Consultant) 

Blooming Bull Pups Early Learning Center   

  • Consulted with organization over an 18-month period.
  • Assisted the Owner with opening a new child care center by managing operational tasks, long-term financial planning, and completing human resource related tasks.
  • Developed daily operational processes and procedures for drop-off, pick-up, lunch, and accounting.
  • Planned and executed Grand Opening Week and Opening Day events live & virtual.


Board Member (Event Planning Committee Lead)  

Sycamore Youth Baseball League  

  • Planned Opening Day for the League, May 2018.
  • Improved the Opening Day experience by creating a family friendly event that included: picture day, face painting, bounce houses, pitch/hit competition, and baseball tournament. 


Instructor, Nonprofit & NGO Studies 

School of Public and Global Affairs, Northern Illinois University

  • Transformed two in-person courses by adapting for an online learning platform.
  • Served on the General Education Social Justice & Diversity Pathway Committee; a group that made decisions regarding the curriculum and courses within the pathway.


Project Manager/Research Associate 

Division of Outreach, Engagement, & Regional Development, Northern Illinois University  

  • Managed multiple technology projects related to the intergovernmental agreement between the university and the State Board of Education 
  • Created Anuko Reporting Procedure Manual and 10-minute new hire training regarding reporting. Anuko is an online project time tracker system. 
  • Increased quantity of staff reporting and quality of reports in Anuko from noncompliance to 94% within two months of tenure and 100% within 5 months (department staff total: 35: full-time, part-time, and student workers).
  • Managed initiatives for Data for School Innovation, the revenue generating division of the department. 
  • Increased on-time payments and bookkeeping accuracy by modifying process and collaborating with Accounting Department.


Program Coordinator 

Student Support Services, Northern Illinois University  

  • Applied grant evaluation criteria to complete monthly reports for internal evaluation.
  • Developed monthly reports through analyzing student data retrieved from multiple sources. 
  • Collaborated with Media Services Department and Campus Document Service to update marketing materials.
  • Organized first educational trip to New York City for 50 students and 3 chaperones: travel arrangements, lodging, itinerary booklet, educational and recreational events, college tours, and payment of vendors.


Supplemental Instruction Coordinator 

Student Support Services, Robert Morris University - Illinois 

  • Managed the Supplemental Instruction Program and General Tutoring Program. 
  • Piloted the Supplemental Instruction Program March 2011: on-boarded faculty members, collaborated with multiple departments & marketed program to students.
  • Evaluated Supplemental Instruction Program through the collection and analysis of data and submitted written reports to university stakeholders.
  • Improved delivery of tutoring services to students by developing post-tutoring evaluations and specialized training based on the data collected from evaluations & supervisor observations.


Community Awareness Coordinator

First Baptist Church of University Park

  • Improved the annual school supply give away by increasing the number of children impacted by including the community and school district. Enhanced the type of supplies given to children from notebooks and pencils to include book bags packed with school supply (2010 & 2011).
  • Organized & facilitated Summer Lunch Program for the University Park, IL community children through a partnership with the Northern Illinois Food Bank Summer 2010
  • Assisted in coordinating Village Election Forum for Trustee 2009 election. 


Advocate for Pregnant & Parenting Youth

Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health

  • Managed Pregnant & Parenting Youth Initiative: project priorities, scope, personnel, and $25,000 budget.
  • Served as the first Advocate for Pregnant & Parenting Youth & developed written documents outlining the new role's responsibilities and key goals in collaboration with the Assistant Director.
  • Developed documents pertinent to the operation of the new focus area: youth applications, job descriptions, individual work plans and action plan.
  • Planned weekend orientation/training retreat for youth workers with relevant speakers and training activities.


Office Assistant/Coordinator

Egan Urban Center, DePaul University

  • Assisted Nonprofit Organizations with scheduling events in the center's rental space including: organizing meals and setup of space for best use.
  • Reconciled Director's monthly credit card statements and submitted the reports to the Business Manager.
  • Managed the Digitalizing of Files Project which included organizing the shared drive with charts explaining pathways and developing a file saving format and system.
