Cheronda has over 15 years of experience working and volunteering with numerous nonprofits throughout the state of Illinois and Louisiana. She has taught a variety of courses online and in-person at 2-year and 4-year institutions. Some of the courses she has taught include: First Year Experience, Career Planning, Academic Success, Nonprofit Accounting, Community Leadership & Civic Engagement, Intro to Nonprofits, and Nonprofit Special Topics.
In 2018, my educational experiences and natural abilities paired with my experiences as a consultant prompted me to write two books with the goal of helping people use project management methods to achieve their goals. People that use the books as a resource are finding success in different areas of their life.
I am the Change:
In 2018, Cheronda and a few friends co-founded a nonprofit organization, Doris & Clara Community Initiative (DCCI), that operates in Illinois and Louisiana. DCCI's mission “Enhance individual lives and improve communities through education & training, collaborative partnerships, and economic stability.” Learn more about this organization, services and opportunities to donate and collaborate at www.dcci27.org.
Let's Get Personal:
Working directly with people and nonprofit organizations that want to have a positive impact on the world is the work I love! I love working on causes that matter and seeing people and communities change for the better.
I believe you can do anything you believe you can do! Believe you can, get a plan, put the plan in motion, and achieve it. Two days before my 19th birthday, freshman year of college, I had my first child. I took the spring semester off; I returned to school with my 6 month old baby in tow. Twenty-three (23) years old, May 2007, I graduated from college Cum Laude with my first degree, a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I knew I could do it, I had a plan, found a village (my tribe), put the plan in motion and found success.
I have done this over and over again! I am a natural planner that believes in ACTION! Don’t just talk about it, be about it. I take this same approach when working with clients. I work with people I believe in, I help them assess areas of need, identify goals, develop an action plan and when implemented they experience success. The best part, their success has a positive impact on people, communities, and causes!
Ten Minute Talks is a series hosted by the DCNP that provides education on various topics for nonprofit organizations. Cheronda did 5 different topics. This is 1 of 5 topics "Brand Awareness for Nonprofits".
